What is your Vision 2021?

Do you believe in New Year Resolutions?

The month of December sets the tone for year-end goodness. Christmas decorations, social media feeds of special cakes and roast preparations, beautiful window facades pop up around us. This year, many of us will miss our Secret Santa in office and the many December lunches.  And slowly peeks that big ‘R’ of the New Year Resolution…

Do you make one? If you do, how do you follow it? Some don’t believe in making one, as they are often broken in January itself.  I never made New Year Resolutions. Not because of cynicism. But, 2020 was a big change – making me believe in a Vision than just a Resolution.

Yes, for the first time I made a vision board for 2020. It became my North Star – to take some tiny steps, some bold decisions. In January 2020 did we crystal gaze how our lives are going to change in just 60 days? No. But, thanks to this Vision 2020 I found a mission / resolution amidst all the chaos and uncertainty around.

How did my Vision 2020 shape up?

2019 was a challenging year. The challenges seemed far from over when 2020 dawned. Just when I was thinking how to steer myself I found my answer in @positivityangel, aka Chetna Chakravarthy. I struggled to keep pace with her Life by Design programme. However, two months of my attempts gave me a direction. Importantly, to have a Vision.

A vision or a goal is important. It could be for our life, a periodic vision of where we see ourselves 5 or 10 years from now. Or, for that matter how do you want the New Year to be? What should be our priorities?

Secondly, it made me decide on my focus. Which fundamentally means – making sense of what do I want? What are my goals? How so I resolve to achieve it? What action am I willing to take to move forward? Should I let go of certain things? Many times we have it in our head, somewhere in our thoughts but specifics go missing. Also, it was aligned to a philosophy I practice with a different perspective.

Lockdown was an opportunity to achieve our goals

Ticking off the Vision 2020

Covid-19 and its impact was a double whammy while dealing with some personal challenges. My Vision Board helped me navigate and find a purpose during this time. Hence, the lockdown became a great opportunity to follow my resolutions to achieve this vision.

  • Blogging The Winning Spirit would have not shaped if ‘scaling my blog’ did not feature in my Vision 2020. The Winning Spirit has given me a purpose, pushed me to reflect. Above all, it has connected me to you all, my readers.
  • Baking – In 2020 I wanted to learn to bake. Pandemic laid the red carpet for baking. I am sure most of you participating in the baking craze in some ways. I did too. Thus, melting my mental block of baking.
  • Self Confidence: In the beginning of 2020 deep within, I was finding self -confidence. It became one of my goals. Writing this blog in December 2020, I can see how the curve that changed. Self-confidence will come the minute you believe in yourself and strive to move forward, one inch at a time.

Did I achieve everything on my vision board? No. Looking back, I can see many other things on that board moving. Some have not. However, it is giving me clarity or directing me towards taking the right action.

Vision 2021

This year with all its flaws and pessimism has opened many doors for all of us. We got a lifetime of time to spend with our family, follow our interests, pause, rejuvenate, learn new skills, attend so many ‘virtual’ events /sessions. Work from home became a part of our lives. Gratitude and compassion, a cornerstone of everything we do or don’t do.

This is a great inspiration to paint our 2021 portrait, imagine that one yummiest delicacy waiting next year…

Spend the new few days with yourself – your own thoughts. Find your Vision 2021. I am waiting you share your The Winning Spirit.

Nurture Winning Thoughts!
